We even got in on the action :) Hehe! This was strictly for fun, no cropping, or editing just good fun.

Ryan & Emily

We photographed Ryan & Emily a few weeks ago in beautiful downtown Marshall. They will be tying the knot this Summer, and I can't wait for their wedding! They are such a fun couple and they both have amazing personalities.

Matt & Beth

We photographed Matt & Beth a few weeks ago as well at the studio and at the riverwalk in Marshall. We had a great time and lots of fun. I LOVE shooting e-sessions, we always laugh a lot and it's a great way to get to know a bride and groom before the big day.

One idea that is really awesome that a few of my couples have done is in lieu of giving traditional wedding favors is make a donation to a charity. It has so much more meaning and it's the gift that keeps on giving. Plus it's a great way for your guests to know you are giving back and making a difference. I had a wedding couple 2 weeks ago that made a donation to the I've Got Your Backs Foundation! As many of you know this is the foundation we started in honor of my 21 year old brother who passed away this Oct from H1N1. The money they donated will be used for graduating high school senior scholarships for college, scholarships for the football camp, and lots more. This was so sweet and a great idea. There are plenty of non profits out there that could use the publicity and funds, so something to think about for all the couples out there planning their weddings. Make a difference in someone's life:) It doesn't have to be a huge amount every little bit makes a difference.

The Big News!

OK I can't contain it any longer (hehe), we are officially moving! We are moving downtown that is:) We will be right across from the Marshall Middle School in a beautiful old building that is amazing. We have already started to paint and remodel so I will be posting pictures soon. And we will be having a HUGE Open House TBD that you won't want to miss out on. I am so excited about our new space, there is so much room and we have really tall ceilings (Yay). Wait till you all see, there are awesome spots right in the building for Senior Pictures the architecture is beautiful, and I feel so blessed that this spot became available right when I started looking. Yippee!!!!! Anyways, I will have pictures to show you all of our progress so stay tuned.

In the mean time I will post some pictures of my beautiful niece Grace Elaina she is such a joy to our family and she has been a huge part of our healing process. Not to mention is she not the most adorable thing you have ever seen:) I am not biased or anything. Enjoy! Everyone have a great weekend!

Like I always say my clients are awesome and Arryn & Dave are no different! We had an amazing time shooting their session this fall. They are such a fun couple and they were up for anything, I can't wait for their wedding this coming summer in Mount Pleasant.

I will announce the big news with pictures by Monday for all of you who have been inquiring, and no I am not pregnant:) Let's do a little contest since it's been a while since I've given anything away. Merry Belated Christmas everyone from our family to yours :)

I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas with their families. I hope this coming year is filled with hope, joy and fulfilled new year's resolutions:) haha (Does this ever happen???, the fulfilled resolutions part.)

I have to apologize to everyone who has tried to email the last 2 weeks, I was out of the country with my family and when I returned I found I was not getting any emails because my email was malfunctioning. It is now working correctly but if you tried to email me the last 2 weeks until yesterday I did not receive it:( I am so sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone.

I will be updating soon. We have some very very exciting news we will be sharing shortly:)

I've Got Your Back Foundation

I wanted to write about what me and my family have been working on the last couple of days since my beautiful brother has passed away. As a result of the many beautiful stories that have been shared about Isaac, we have decided to continue the legacy of his life by founding the “I’ve Got Your Back” Foundation (www.ivegotyourbacks.org ).

Isaac’s life was dedicated to helping others and there are many stories that reflect his giving heart. Whether he was providing young athletes with sporting equipment, setting up a service that accompanied college girls to their dorms after a fellow student was violated, taking the shoes off his feet for a homeless man, volunteering for inner city missions work, tutoring a young student in math or purchasing birthday gifts for underprivileged kids, Isaac continually showed love and support to those around him.

Because Isaac had a passion for helping and working with children, many of the foundation programs will be for kids. Just a few of the programs we plan to implement with this foundation include a football camp for kids, a tutoring program for kids, providing school supplies to needy children, providing athletic equipment for underprivileged kids, giving Christmas and birthday presents to kids in need, providing winter coats, gloves and boots for needy kids and creating a scholarship program for two college-bound seniors at both Marshall High School and Battle Creek Central High School.

Our mission is to educate, impact and inspire hope to area youths in need by continuing some of the efforts that reflect Isaac’s heart. Please check out the website to see if there is a way you can support this great cause.

This next post is from Megan & Nick's Wedding it was on 8.15.09 the ceremony was held at the beautiful K College Stetson Chapel in Kalamazoo. The reception was help at the elegant Cityscape in Downtown Kalamazoo Megan was beautiful she looked stunning in her dress, nothing could have been more perfect. This has been an incredible Summer, thank you everyone for such an amazingly (is this a word?) successful season! We are officially booked for September for Senior Sessions and have 3 October Sessions left! I am very thankful and blessed that this season has been a success and I couldn't have done it without you all, so THANK YOU!!!!!! On that note I have been very busy with senior sessions, wedding and yes I still shoot a couple of children :) So, I thought I would blog some images from Hannah and Noah's session we did a couple of weeks ago. These two were awesome and we had a blast with their session. I have been photographing them for a couple years now and I can't believe how much older they look this year. More Seniors and a Model!

Ok No I didn't fall off the face of the earth:) I have some seniors I will post and a Model Portfolio shoot. I have been busy and for that I am very thankful, especially in this economic recession. :) I have decided I am not a writer, which I am sure you all have figured out by now, so I will mainly use the blog to post new sessions and weddings. This is Amanda, we had a great time shooting her session as well. My good friend Jackie Palmer also came out for the shoot and boy did we shoot! This was an 8 hour long session!!!! It was a lot of fun of course and Amanda looks amazing I don't know who wouldn't hire her she is gorgeous!

Sarah & Lucas 06.13.09

Sarah and Lucas were married on June 13th, 09 at the beautiful Kalamazoo Nature Center . The outdoor wedding was in the gorgeous butterfly garden. The dress was so amazing and Sarah looked stunning. It truly was a picture perfect day. The reception was held at the beautiful Rose Street Market in downtown Kalamazoo, by the way the food was amazing. :)Everything was perfect even the weather cooperated for their wedding. This weekend I had the privilege of having one of my close family friends weddings in my own backyard. My good friend and fellow photographer Jackie Palmer from Canfield Jenkins House of Photography came and helped me photograph the wedding. The wedding was absolutely amazing, the ceremony was held in my parents backyard and the reception was held here. It was a true labor of love to get everything together in time for the wedding but it was worth it. Danielle looked absolutely stunning in her beautiful gown. The weather cooperated perfectly and we couldn't have planned anything better. I will have several blog post of just this wedding because we had so much fun. She even let me test out the new wedding package add on: the PHOTO BOOTH! It was a blast. Here is a sneak peek, and I promise I will get the Photo Booth Pics posted ASAP to all the people who can't wait to see how crazy they were:)

Ok I am not even going to try and come up with excuses for not writing in the blog:) I am just not good at keeping up on it, so hopefully (cross our fingers) I can make it a habit this year. PPA Phoenix

I had the great opportunity to go to Phoenix last week for a photography conference. It was amazing! I will post some pictures. I learned so much and I met some amazing photographers. This is my second year going and I got to see some of the friends I made last year and I met some new friends this year. I got some great ideas and most of all I feel inspired and I am excited and ready for this new year. On a different note I hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season with family and friends. I love this time of year! I am so looking forward to spending time with my family. This has been an amazing year for our family and we are so blessed to have new family members through births, and new family members through marriage. I challenge everyone to examine what really matters this holiday season. Gifts are great but they break and wear out and are soon forgotten. What are our priorities, what are we investing our time and energy in, one thing I realize more & more as I get older is that PEOPLE are the greatest investment. If we really want to see a return on an investment, try investing in someone. Maybe a neighborhood child who lost a parent, maybe someone in a nursing home, maybe a friend who needs encouragement, maybe a teacher, believe me there is always someone in need of a smile, a hug, or a word of encouragement. This holiday season don't just give temporary gifts give a gift that keeps giving, go sledding at midnight with your kids(they won't forget that), volunteer as a family at a soup kitchen, make cookies for someone in a nursing home, be more aware of those around us, the possibilities are endless and they will probably be the most memorably gifts you can give.
